### Job overview

The post is that of a Dental Nurse and the post holder will be expected to undertake duties in a busy Maxillofacial Department in a District General Hospital.

They will carry out a range of assigned tasks involving direct and indirect care for the benefit of the patient/client in accordance with agreed protocols.

### Main duties of the job

- Provide high quality dental nurse care across a broad range of specialities.
- Participate in delivery of evidence based care and to ensure consistency and continuity in the quality of care.
- To provide a safe, welcoming and compassionate environment for patients and relatives.
- Deliver pre and post treatment instructions to patients and relatives/carers.
- Assist dental practitioners in undertaking four handed dentistry.
- To support the Senior Dental Nurse in the supervision of learners and newly appointed dental nurses.

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means being able to communicate in Welsh during routine clinical situations, such as welcoming patients, discussing straightforward aspects of their care and answering routine questions. If you’re comfortable holding everyday conversations in Welsh, we encourage you to apply. - Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above

**Essential**

- Ability to travel to all UHB sites in a timely manner.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to meet service needs

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working within the field of Restorative Dentistry and Orthodontics

**Desirable**

- Experience of working within the fields of Oral Surgery.

### Qualifications/Knowledge

**Essential**

- Registered Dental Nurse
- Evidence of continuous professional development.

**Desirable**

- Certificate in Oral Health Education or willing to undertake. ILS
