A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Community Dental Services (CDS) at East Cheshire NHS Trust, as a dental nurse, supporting the service in delivering a high standard of care to our patients. This will be a permanent part time position, which will give the successful applicant an insight & experience of working within the CDS.

We are seeking a highly motivated, caring and compassionate qualified dental nurse, to join our team and help us deliver a high standard of care to our patients. The role can be challenging on occasions but extremely rewarding.

The Community Dental Service is an integral part of East Cheshire NHS Trust, delivering special care dentistry and paediatric exodontia services, to patients referred to us.

There will be an opportunity to work across all CDS clinics and supporting in theatres at the hospital sites .

Full DCP registration with the GDC is required. A post certification in dental nurse sedation is desirable.

The successful candidate will be based at Church View PCC, Nantwich.

Hours of work - up to 15 hours per week (negotiable)

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will work clinically with a dentist or therapist and carry out decontamination duties, as part of the dental nursing team.

Good clinical and patient-management skills will enable the post-holder to achieve a high level of personal job satisfaction and provide excellent patient care.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Assisting in the delivery of dental treatment to adult and paediatric patients with complex care needs
- Assisting and supporting paediatric patients undergoing routine dental treatment e.g. exodontia
- Previous experience of working in NHS dentistry
- Demonstrates own activities/provides clinical supervision to less experienced staff
- Accountable for own professional actions: not directly supervised.

**Desirable**

- Supported in an acute setting/facility – e.g. theatre
- Delivery of oral health messages in line with current Delivering Better Oral Health toolkit
- Clinically assisting in the delivery of dental treatment during inhalation sedation and monitoring of the patient

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered dental nurse qualification - National Diploma in Dental Nursing (NEBDN) or equivalent
- General Dental Council Registration – DCP register
- Evidence of continual professional development relevant to post
- Competency in literacy and numeracy

**Desirable**

- Post dental nursing certification
- Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing
- Certificate in Dental Radiology
- Certificate in Special Care Dentistry
- Certificate in Oral Health Education
- Extended duties in dental nursing

### Knowledge & Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to undertake routine dental nursing tasks and procedures, with under pinning knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Department of Health guidelines HTM01-05
- Understanding of; GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), mental capacity act, consent to treatment & record keeping.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work within templated appointment times
- Computer literacy
- Experience of inputting to dental software applications – e.g. charting
