The Maxillofacial and Dental unit provides an exciting and varied clinical environment to learn new skills. Dental nurses will be exposed complex multi disciplinary clinical problems within a professional and friendly environment.

### Main duties of the job

### Prepare the surgery including the equipment, instruments and materials used, to ensure the efficient running of the clinics.

### Receive, attend to, and prepare patients for treatment by the clinician and supervise and attend to patients after treatment until they are fit to leave the surgery.

### Liaise with reception staff and answer telephone in the clinical areas.

### Always assist the clinician at the chair-side and act as a chaperone, throughout treatment and in the surgery as required, to ensure that a high-quality service is provided to the patient.

### Transfer patients to X-Ray department from surgery to and from the in-house radiography department.

### Abide by and maintain a high standard of infection control policies and procedures, thereby minimising the risk of cross infection.

### Maintain accurate treatment records, including charting the Dentist’s instructions, ensuring all relevant information are up-to-date and treated confidentially.

### Carry out administrative and clerical work associated with the surgery including information collection, assisting the clinician to provide an efficient service.

### Maintain the surgery and equipment, notifying and logging faults in a timely manner, and monitoring the process.

### Undertake stock control at the clinic, replenishing consumable supplies and materials thus contributing to the smooth running of the clinic.

Together with Reception staff ensures that relevant clinical records are available at the beginning of each session.

Carry out administrative and clerical work associated with the surgery including information collection, assisting the clinician to provide an efficient service.

Maintain the surgery and equipment, notifying and logging faults in a timely manner, and monitoring the process.

Undertake stock control at the clinic, replenishing consumable supplies and materials thus contributing to the smooth running of the clinic.

Any other duties appropriate to the post as may be delegated by the Principal Dental Nurse Manager or Lead Nurse.

Participation in the care group meetings and Clinical Governance programme. To ensure improvement in the quality-of-service provision, risk reduction and continuing professional development.

Keep CPD updated.

- Work within the GDC Dental Nurse Scope of Practice.

### Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
