Substantive, 6 month and 12 month fixed term posts available The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for you to join our Maternity service as a Delivery Suite Coordinator. This is a pivotal role providing inspirational leadership of the multi-disciplinary delivery suite teams and providing excellence in clinical skills and support to staff. Successful applicants would be required to work on both City sites at Leeds General Infirmary and St James Hospital on a rotational basis.

We are looking for a candidate with highly advanced intrapartum clinical skills, who is ready to take the next step into clinical midwifery leadership within our large NHS Trust. The ideal candidate should have significant intrapartum care experience, be an advocate for women and families using our service, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be used to working in a busy environment with a large multi-disciplinary team.

We are a large tertiary referral centre with more than 8500 deliveries each year across 2 sites. Each site has specific maternal medicine specialities and we have level 3 neonatal facilities at the LGI site and level 2 at SJUH site. We have a 3 bedded alongside midwifery unit- Lotus Midwifery Unit- at the LGI site, with birth pools available at both sites.

We work closely with obstetric, anaesthetic and neonatal colleagues on our perinatal improvement journey and are passionate about and dedicated to improving experiences and outcomes for our service users. What you will bring to the role

The post holder is an expert clinical practitioner of midwifery. S/he coordinates and manages the day-to-day activities for the delivery suite, obstetric theatres, obstetric enhanced maternal care (EMC), and alongside midwifery unit (Lotus Midwifery Unit), allocating the team in accordance with capabilities and workload. The post holder is responsible for the unit out of hours and at weekends whilst on duty. S/he provides management and professional leadership. The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care. The post holder provides clinical guidance and support for other members of the multidisciplinary team within the delivery suite, ward areas and other outside agencies i.e. GPs and community midwifery services. He/She facilitates an environment that cultivates the concepts of evidence-based care and is responsible for supervision, education and professional development of staff and students. This post will involve direct liaison with delivery suite based at our sister site, across the city.
