### Job overview

The Cambridge Cancer Trials Centre (CCTC) would like to recruit a Database Programmer who will design and maintain clinical trial databases in both REDCap and MACRO and provide database support for both commercial and non-commercially funded cancer clinical trials undertaken by the CCTC.

The role also includes managing permissions to trial databases, extracting data in a secure manner, and ensuring that protocol required tests/procedures are recorded in trial databases and in compliance with GCP guidelines.

### Main duties of the job

The key job functions of the Database Programming Manager are:

Design, manage and maintain electronic data capture systems for recording clinical trials data.

Support successful implementation and will be responsible for the on-going management of database systems and contribute to the development of a wide range of cutting edge research studies, working closely with scientists, academics and NHS consultants

Assist the Programming Manager, ensuring regulatory compliance for all trial data, the systems are fit for purpose and operational at all times.

- Proficient in the use of MS Office applications
- Demonstrable ability and skills to learn the use of new computing systems, packages and programming languages rapidly and accurately. Able to work under pressure, methodical in approach, with effective problem-solving ability. Ability to meet tight deadlines, working under own initiative. - Good knowledge of GCP/ICH requirements for electronic data capture and data base validation.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of some database design and related business processes.
- Experience in using the remote electronic data capture systems.

**Desirable**

- Awareness of current developments in clinical trials data management software.
- Experience of troubleshooting technical issues affecting database availability and implementing solutions.
- Experience working in clinical trials/clinical research data management.
- Experience in working in the academic/University and/or NHS environment.
- Experience in configuring, maintaining and reviewing database systems for collection of research data

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Qualifications in computer science or other related subjects with demonstrable skills and experience gained through practical work.
- Educated to Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent.

**Desirable**

- GCP training.
