An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Pathology Directorate for a highly organised and detail-focused Data Quality and Facilities Co-ordinator based at Whiston Hospital.

This pivotal role supports the effective day to day operation of pathology services by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and maintenance of key laboratory and workforce data systems. The post holder will play a central role in managing and improving data quality within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

Working closely with the Pathology teams, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of the Pathology Quality Management System (QMS), supporting compliance with regulatory standards including UKAS ISO 15189, MHRA, and HTA requirements.

The role also includes responsibility for producing regular performance and workforce reports, supporting audits, maintaining system user access, and ensuring all data is accurate, secure, and up to date.

This is a varied and autonomous position requiring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will contribute to service improvement, support audits and research activity, and help maintain high standards of patient safety, data governance, and operational efficiency across Pathology services.

The JD & PS are currently under AfC review and are subject to change.

KEY DUTIES To extract and formulate statistical information from telepath.

To comply with the local and national policies for safe, secure and confidential processing and storage of patient and other laboratory information.

Manage a broad range of data submissions, including monthly activity figures, invoicing data, and mandatory reporting to external bodies.

Duties encompass SOP creation, shared learning, and Power BI/Excel-based data transformation to prepare accurate activity and financial datasets.

Ensure secure data warehouse access, validate submitted figures, create accounts for clinical access to systems, and support the timely delivery of operational data for both internal and external requests.

Produce regular reports on current status of open absences, mandatory training, appraisals from ESR into Excel.

Responsible for data quality aspects of Telepath Laboratory information system  - Level One administrator for Telepath  - Ensure location and staff codes are maintained up to date in Laboratory Information System LIMS (Telepath).  - Provide LIMS passwords to appropriate staff in a timely manner

Use of other Trust and NHS systems to obtain patient information for the purpose of maintaining the LIMS.

To create new ICE users following correct procedures.

Responsible for data quality aspects of CSC Telepath  Level One administrator for Telepath  Ensure location and staff codes are maintained up to date in Laboratory Information System LIMS (Telepath).  Provide LIMS passwords to appropriate staff in a timely manner Use of other Trust and NHS systems to obtain patient information for the purpose of maintaining the LIMS. To create and follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs). To participate in the regular review and update of SOPs. To create new ICE users following correct procedures. To plan and organise their work within the demands of the team. To report any instance or event that may cause service delivery failure. To participate in audit as directed by departmental management. To assist in clinical audits, trials and research projects as directed by departmental management. Demonstrate competency in order to work autonomously and maintain expertise necessary to the post. To maintain an awareness of developments and provide suggestions for implementation as appropriate. To maintain good working relations with all members or staff and to promote effective teamwork.
