### Job overview

We are looking for a friendly, adaptable and well organised person to join our Women’s and Children’s data team, with a key focus on supporting out Palliative Intensive Care unit. Well-developed IT skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. Previous experience in a hospital environment would be an advantage. The post holder will support the data collection and submission of national and local databases, and work with individuals across the Division to produce data sets used for performance management, and governance purposes.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will oversee data coordination for palliative care in childhood cancer trials, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include facilitating communication between care teams and administrative staff, training on data management, analysing data for quality improvement, preparing reports, managing patient documentation, and supporting palliative care research and administrative tasks.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge and understanding of Good Clinical Practice and directives which govern research activity
- Appreciation of the confidential nature of the work and an understanding of processes and procedures relating to confidentiality and data protection

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of collecting clinical trial data from patients participating in clinical trials
- Data entry experience
- Knowledge of research methodology
- Experience of working unsupervised and on own initiative
- Experience of working with databases (Access and/or Excel and/or web based data capture systems)
- Experience of audit (i.e. analysing existing information to prepare reports)

**Desirable**

- Familiarity with paediatric oncology and haematology clinical trials

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Evidence of IT qualification or experience

**Desirable**

- Nursing background advantageous
