We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Assistant Psychologist to join the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service (CYPMH) Fylde and Wyre. F&W CYPMH is a multi-disciplinary Mental Health service. We aim to deliver high quality innovative psychological solutions with service users through consultation, parent workshops, and individual, systemic/family therapy and group work.

### Main duties of the job

Your role within the service will be supporting the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care to children, young people, and their families. The role will involve contributing to assessment, supporting the delivery of evidence-based and manualised interventions, and promoting engagement with services.

The CYPMH services within LSCFT are undergoing a transformation programme to implement the THRIVE model as a response to the Five Year Forward View. To meet this forward thinking view we are specifically looking for practitioners with a modern mind-set and an enthusiasm for the new model.

Candidates must be able to meet the travel requirements of the role and applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Whitegate Drive Health Centre is well located for the M55 motorway and bus routes and there is free parking available 5 minutes from the building.

## Person Specification

### Personal

**Essential**

- An ability to interact effectively with other professionals. An ability to interact effectively with children, young people and their parents
- Ability to work independently, reliably and consistently with work agreed and managed at regular intervals
- An interest in working with children, young people and their families. Ability to accept and use supervision appropriately and effectively

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Ability to undertake psychologically informed research projects
- Knowledge of psychological methods and theories, especially child development and an ability to apply this knowledge within a clinical context
- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of children/ young people with psychological/mental health difficulties or other disabilities

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of, or demonstrable interest in working with mental health difficulties and/or other disabilities
- Work with children and/or young people
- To have worked as part of a team within a care setting

### Education/Qualifications

**Essential**

- An upper second class (2i) honours degree or higher in psychology
- Entitlement to Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society

**Desirable**

- Further education or research in relevant area of psychology e.g. working with children
