We have 2 posts in MOSAIC CAMHS, a Specialist Disabilities CAMHS service in Camden Team.

The posts, based in Camden MOSAIC CAMHS, this is part of the CAMDEN Integrated Children‘s Service and based in the MOSIAC service. MOSAIC is an integrated service for children and young people with disabilities, and their families. It aims to enable families to help their children to participate to their best ability in family and community life.

MOSAIC provides the skills and professionals needed to support the needs of children and young people with disabilities. It is a joint service provided in partnership with a number of different North London trusts and the Local Authority in Camden. The service is lead by colleagues from CNWL.

The service aims to help children and young people to join in with all aspects of school, leisure, community activities, and support their independence and involvement in all decisions that affect them, preparing them for adult life.

The service provides assessment, diagnosis and therapeutic intervention from a range of professionals from health and social care to create a 'team around the child'. MOSAIC brings together MOSAIC CAMHS the Child Development Team for under 5s, the Camden school age Social Communication Assessment Servicethe local authority Social Care team and the Children and Young People’s Disability Service. We maintain close working links with Educational Psychology, Swiss Cottage School and Camden SEN. Course start date: 18th January 2027

### Main duties of the job

Training Information

This full-time training will begin in January 2027 with around 2-3 days a week for academic work (teaching and personal study), and 2.5 days based at the service seeing clients (children, young people, and carers) related to training assignments. Trainees will be both an employee of the service and an enrolled student with UCL/Anna Freud. Upon completion, qualified trainees will receive a UCL Postgraduate Diploma.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to be flexible and creative in facilitating engagement with children and young people with ASC and/or LD and their families
- Ability to adapt communication style according to the varying needs and levels of comprehension of children and young people with ASC and/or LD
- Ability to maintain a reflective stance in emotive/challenging interactions with children and their carers
- Ability to use supervision to reflect on practice

**Desirable**

- Ability to adopt a multi-agency working, especially in relation to complex cases with multiple needs, where a more systemic approach is required.
- Ability to advocate for the needs for children and young people with ASC and/or LD and their families
- Ability to maintain an observational stance, particularly in relation to children and young people with ASC and/or LD who do not express themselves verbally

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of the unique challenges associated with ASC and/or LD for children, young people and their families
- Demonstrates awareness of the significantly increased risk of co-morbid mental health and other neuro-developmental needs in this population
- Knowledge and understanding of the key features and symptoms associated with ASC and/or LD
- Knowledge and understanding of importance to modify, adapt methods of communication and intervention for this population

**Desirable**

- Demonstrates an appreciation of the range of factors that can impact on emotional well-being of children and young people with ASC and/or LD and their families
- Demonstrates an appreciation of the multi-disciplinary approach and involving other agencies, such as education and social care to ensure that the needs of children and young people with ASC and/or LD are well understood and effectively met

### Experience

**Essential**

- Two years experience of working within a professional setting concerned with the mental health of children and young people or families (e.g. as a mental health worker)
- Basic level of clinical competence and experience of having worked with this clinical group for at least one year

**Desirable**

- Experience of working as part of the multi-disciplinary team with children and young people with ASC and/or LD and their families
- Experience of working within a professional setting concerned with the mental health, development and wellbeing of children and young people with ASC and/or LD and their families

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Qualifications that demonstrate a capacity to complete academic work at postgraduate diploma level

**Desirable**

- Degree level qualification (if you do not have a degree level qualification you can submit alternative evidence of your academic capability, please contact the University for further information
- A training in a mental-health related profession (e.g. psychology, nursing, social-work, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, special needs teaching, psychotherapy, counselling)
