### Job overview

The Cyber Security Analyst supports the Trust’s cyber security operations by carrying out day-to-day monitoring, analysis, and assurance activities to help protect clinical and corporate systems and sensitive patient data. Working under the direction of senior cyber security staff, the postholder will play a key operational role in identifying vulnerabilities, responding to alerts, supporting incident response, and ensuring remediation actions are tracked and completed.

This is a hands-on, operational role suited to someone developing their cyber security career within a highly regulated NHS Trust environment.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels and types of staff.
- Able to communicate IT matters to non technical staff effectively.
- Experience of working in a collaborative team, sharing and supporting, working as a team to resolve and/or make improvements

**Desirable**

- Experience with communication to Senior staff on matters of importance

### Technical

**Essential**

- Good understanding of Microsoft core systems (Server, AD, Exchange), O365 admin
- Demonstratable experience and understanding working with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and other Office 365 applications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
- Demonstratable experience and understanding of PC hardware, software and associated peripherals.

**Desirable**

- Good understanding of networking – Firewalls, IP’s and routing.
- Understanding of NHS environments and systems / clinical systems.
- Working experience of tools such as Nessus and Ivanti

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in Cyber Security, IT, or a related discipline.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional and personal development particularly with regards to remaining current with infrastructure and security technology and best practice.

**Desirable**

- Microsoft SC-200 qualification
- CompTIA Security+

### Knowledge & Experience

**Essential**

- Experience working in an IT or cyber security role, with exposure to operational security activities.
- Practical experience of vulnerability scanning, reporting, or patch management.
- Experience managing tickets or cases within an IT service management environment.
- Basic understanding of cyber security principles, threats, and controls.
- Awareness of working in a regulated environment, ideally within healthcare or the public sector.

**Desirable**

- Understanding of NHS environments and systems
- Evidence of active self progression, such as Try Hack me.

### Planning/ organisational

**Essential**

- Experience of multitask working.
- Proven ability to organise self, prioritise work effectively and to deliver to tight deadlines.
- Able to work under pressure with changing and sometimes conflicting priorities, with limited supervision.
- Able to work flexibly and in partnership with others.
- Capacity for independent working.
- Able to plan, schedule and monitor own work within a limited time horizon, using applicable methods, procedures tools, equipment and standards effectively with only occasional reference to Management.
