The Crisis Assessment Unit (CAU) and Police pathways are currently undergoing review, CAU is currently functioning as a 6 bed Female acute ward. We strongly advise a conversation with the managers if applying for this post.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to provide and support the highest standards of evidence based clinical practice within the  Crisis Assessment Unit  / police pathway Service. Crisis Assessment Unit is a 6 bed unit that provides short term inpatient assessments. The Police Pathway involves providing support to patients through the pathway from initial referral, community assessment and through the s136 detention process where applicable. You will be working on the Crisis Assessment Unit and within the 136 Suite and may also support senior practitioners with Street Triage work.

### Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic mental health practitioner. A dynamic individual who has the ability to provide a quality service under pressure, able to work in a team to provide exceptional care on the Crisis Assessment Unit and within the 136 Suite,

The successful candidate will be expected to be available for a 7-day-a-week rota working over 24 hours (long days and nights).

Within the health based place of safety, you will need to be  skilled in supporting individuals who may be distressed, experiencing acute symptoms of mental illness or intoxicated. You will be expected to have a sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to formulate care plans and safety plans for service users.
- Ability to conduct assessments within an acute mental health setting
- Assessment and problems solving skills, particularly in the area of crisis assessment and working with emergency services.
- Skills in de-escalation of distress, and anger
- Ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with service users, carers/family members, other professionals and the wider community.
