### Job overview

The post holder will be part of a team responsible for the assessment of women’s and neonates needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of care pathways for antenatal and postnatal women and babies requiring transitional care without direct supervision.

You will provide leadership and support on a shift by shift basis on the mixed Transitional Care and IOL/LSCS ward to support safe care through effective clinical leadership and role modelling

The post holder will be a band 6 midwife.

### Main duties of the job

To provide the highest standard of midwifery care in conjunction with other disciplines for all women and birthing people attending Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals.

The post holder will be autonomous in their practice and provide evidence based care following hospital and NMC guidelines.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- At least 2 years’ experience as a qualified midwife and currently working as a band 6 midwife
- Recent experience of managing the care of women in the antenatal and postnatal periods
- Confident with all induction of labour processes including insertion of Cookes balloons
- Confident and competent to take charge of a shift
- Competent in use of IT packages such as Microsoft Word, excel and PowerPoint.
- Competent in venepuncture, cannulation and IV administration

**Desirable**

- Previous experience working on a Transitional Care unit
- Possesses neonatal care competencies such as NG tube feeding, IV antibiotic administration etc
- NLS

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- Registered NMC Midwife
- Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development demonstrated through a Professional Portfolio
- Mentorship/PEAP qualification

**Desirable**

- NIPE Qualification

**Essential**

- Flexible approach to work
- Complaints resolution
- Able to effectively manage work-based stressful situations, both in self and others – liaising with managers and outside agencies when appropriate
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across professional and organisational boundaries and with service users and carers.
