### Job overview

To work as a member of a small team of midwives providing the full continuity of carer pathway for women and their families.

This post is for a Band 6 midwife, preferably with 2 years experience, to work in both community and the intrapartum settings providing continuity of carer to women through an on-call service.

### Main duties of the job

- To work within the policies and protocols of Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and enable all members of the midwifery team to carry out care within these guidelines.

2 To maintain effective communication and working relationships within the team and between the team and other Health Care Professionals.

3.To be responsible for the maintenance and development of her own clinical skills and maintain PREP requirements. Including attendance at Trust mandatory training.

- To possess the midwifery skills to undertake midwifery care for a caseload of women during all stages of their pregnancy, intrapartum and postnatal period and be able to facilitate and provide continuity of carer across all pathways of care to women and families as a small team.
- To provide total care to women in liaison with other team members.
- To be responsible for the maintenance and development of her/his own clinical skills.

8 . To assume responsibility for the safe custody and administration of drugs in accordance with the Trust Policies and Statutory Rules and Regulations.

- To assist the other team members in the co-ordination of the clinical/non-clinical activities of the team.
- To assist with orientation programmes which familiarise new members of staff to the team.
- To support the development of midwifery practice and new roles within the service.
