We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers. Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered. ### Main duties of the job The Sheffield Vascular Service provides the vascular services at the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and is based on Firth 2 ward at the Northern General Hospital site. The service provides elective and 24 hour emergency vascular services for Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and surrounding districts with a tertiary referral population of approximately 1.25 million along with carotid services to North Derbyshire. The current consultant working arrangement is a 14-week rolling rota staffed by 7 people with fixed commitments, with a consultant of the week model and annualised job plans. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities Please refer to the supporting job description and person specification which will outline the duties of the role including an indicative job plan. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service. ## Person Specification ### Research **Essential** - Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate **Desirable** - Publications in Peer reviewed journals. - Ideas for future research whilst in post ### Qualifications **Essential** - Full and Specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
