### Job overview

We are looking for a consultant radiologist for a full time post for general radiologist with an interest in Head & Neck and Neuro imaging, to accommodate expansion in the service.

The post will be cross site, with on call commitment at the West Middlesex site.

The 10 PA contract comprises 8.5 DCC sessions and 1.5 SPA sessions.

The proposed job plan will be subject to change to allow for any future extended 7-day service requirement and provision of services across the entire Trust.

The successful candidate will have access to secretarial/administrator support from the Imaging department administrative/PA team. They will also have access to dedicated working office space within the radiology department where they will be able to base themselves and be part of the wider radiology team.

### Main duties of the job

The job plan will be based on a 4 day week, includes sessions dedicated to general cross sectional and hot CT reporting so it is essential for the prospective candidate to be able to report body CT and general MRI. There will be sessions dedicated to reporting Head & Neck and Neuro CT/MRI, perform H&N ultrasound and Us-guided FNA/biopsy.  The successful candidate will also be expected to partake in the H&N monthly MDT and some neuro MDTs.

The new appointee will participate in the diagnostic on call rota covering the WM site (approx. frequency 1 in 16).

The applicant is expected to be on the Specialist register of the GMC, or within 6 months of CCT, and be a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists.

The successful candidate is expected to have a starting date within 3 months of interview. Interview will be on 25th September 2026.

Provide High Quality Care to Patients

- The post holder must adhere to the standards outlined by the GMC for Good Medical Practice.
- Develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
- Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care Programmed Activities.
- Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.
- Demonstrate, model and encourage Trust Values at all times to all patients and staff.

Research, Teaching and Training

Provide high quality teaching to medical undergraduates and members of other health care professions as agreed with the Service Lead. To contribute to training and teaching of medical trainees, medical students, other doctors in training and other staff groups.

Act as a clinical supervisor and appraiser as delegated by the Clinical Director/Service Lead.

Where possible to collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the Trust’s research/audit portfolio, at all times meeting the full requirements of Research Governance.

Ensure that your mandatory training is up to date as per Trust policy.

The Trust expects all consultants to participate fully in continuing professional development to ensure that skills and knowledge are updated in line with relevant medical developments. Consultants may apply to the study leave budget for help with associated expenses in line with the terms and conditions of their contract. In addition consultants will be expected to undertake some non-clinical training and development at the discretion of the trust management, for example, Leadership Training.

Performance Management

- To work with medical, nursing and managerial colleagues to ensure high performance.
- Financial management e.g. identification, implementation and achievement of cost improvement programmes and participating in efforts to ensure services are provided cost effectively.
- Operational efficiency e.g. day-case rates, waiting list activity and demand management.

Medical Staff Management and Accountability

- Adhere to Trust / department guidelines on leave, including requesting and reporting absence, and professional and study leave, and to ensure that members of staff for whom you are responsible do the same.
- Participate in the recruitment and induction of junior medical staff as delegated by the Clinical Director/Service Lead.
- Participate in team objective setting as part of the annual job planning cycle.
- Participate fully in regular departmental activities including department meetings and team building activities.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Understanding of Clinical Governance and Audit
- Under and post graduate teaching experience
- Wide training in general, cross-sectional radiology and ultrasound
- Relevant Sub-specialty training
- Experience in general ultrasound
- Experience in general CT reporting
- Experience in MRI reporting
- Understanding of audit and Clinical Governance and quality control in Radiology
- Experience of Radiology service delivery within a National Health Service department
- Participation in a system of annual appraisal
- Participation in a recognised continuing medical education scheme

**Desirable**

- Experience in the interpretation of thoracic imaging
- Experience in soft tissue biopsies and other interventional procedures.

- Good understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the General Medical Council.
- Achieved Fellowship of Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR)
- Experience in teaching medical trainees and other NHS professionals
