Consultant Radiologist with Specialist Interest in Musculoskeletal Radiology

Applications are invited for a full-time Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiology to join the Radiology Directorate at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in the UK, providing secondary and tertiary radiology services across multiple specialist sites. The successful candidate will join a well-established MSK radiology service with strong links to orthopaedics, trauma, rheumatology, spinal services, and regional soft tissue sarcoma services.

The department offers a broad range of diagnostic and interventional radiology services with excellent opportunities for subspecialist development, research, teaching and service leadership. The post holder will contribute to both specialist MSK radiology and the wider cross-sectional/general radiology service.

Flexible working and home reporting opportunities are available by agreement with the Clinical Director.

### Main duties of the job

Provide a high-quality diagnostic and interventional MSK radiology service across ultrasound, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy and plain radiography.

Participate in specialist MSK intervention lists including ultrasound-guided and fluoroscopic procedures, with opportunities for CT-guided intervention.

Support regional and specialist MDT services including upper limb, revision arthroplasty, rheumatology, sarcoma and trauma pathways.

Contribute to the general cross-sectional radiology workload across inpatient, outpatient and acute services.

Participate in the Consultant diagnostic 1:16 on-call rota.

Support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching for radiology trainees, MSK fellows, medical students and allied health professionals.

Participate actively in audit, governance, quality improvement and service development activities.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- CCT in Radiology (or equivalent training) or within 6 months of attaining at time of interview
- Subspecialty training in MSK Radiology
- MSK Radiology fellowship
- Evidence of continuing medical education
- Experience of teaching to medical and allied health colleagues
- Understanding of NHS management structures and the principles of Clinical Governance
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Thorough understanding of the principles of clinical audit
- Understanding principles of research
- Proven track record in research
- Publication of research
- Able to use patient information systems

**Desirable**

- Teaching diploma
- Willingness to participate in management activities
- Understanding of financial arrangements in the NHS
- Publication of audit results
- Success in obtaining funding for research

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MB ChB or equivalent
- MBBS or equivalent
- Full GMC registration with licence to practice
- Eligible for specialist register in Radiology
