You are invited to apply to our Consultant Clinical Psychologist position in the MPFT Eating Disorders Service. Early Application and contacting our services before applying is highly recommended. This role will be responsible for leading psychological approaches across the services with the core part of the role working within our inpatient setting. The post-holder will work as an integrated member of the multidisciplinary team, providing specialist psychological assessment and evidence-based psychological interventions to people accessing our Eating Disorders Service, across in-patient, day-patient and out-patient settings. The post-holder will be part of our Senior Collective Leadership team leading on service development initiatives across the service. There will be opportunities of teaching and training of other professionals across the teams. The post-holder will receive clinical supervision as part of the wider provider collaborative and receive professional supervision from MPFT’s Mental Health Psychology Professional Lead.

### Main duties of the job

- Provision of specialist psychological clinical and consultancy within Adult Eating Disorders
- Clinical/consultation/professional strategic/locality psychological leadership, for Adult Eating Disorders in the Specialist Care Group
- Provision of professional advice and guidance regarding psychological practice with people with an eating disorder across the Adult ED service within the Specialist Care Group Adult
- Working in collaboration with the Senior Collective Leadership team across Adult Eating Disorder Services, other Consultant Psychologists and the SSOT Professional Lead for Mental Health Psychological Services to contribute to delivery of strategic service delivery the Care Group
- Contribute to Senior Collective leadership to assure the provision of safe, quality and effective psychological eating disorders services

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- To lead the provision of psychological approaches across the eating disorder services. This is to incorporate complex assessments leading to psychological formulations of distress, recommendations for treatment options and evaluation of interventions
- In collaboration with the Senior Collective Leadership team and SSOT Professional lead for Mental Health Psychological Services to provide psychological clinical leadership and direction across the Adult Eating Disorder services
- To provide expert advice, clinical supervision and training in working with eating disorder colleagues within the Adult Eating Disorder Service and to other healthcare professionals across the organisation when supporting individual as part of collaborative care.
- To provide holistic and specialist psychological assessments and interventions for people with eating disorder services within inpatients, day services and outpatients in accordance with NICE guidance.
- To undertake co-ordination and management of research and development projects within the Adult Eating Disorder Service
- To provide Psychological clinical leadership in the continual development of colleagues and support the delivery of safe, quality and effective care
- To provide consultancy to the team regarding psychological approaches to considering both clinical cases, clinical formulations and team culture.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Must have substantial experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist at a highly specialist level.
- Proficient in working with diverse client populations across all age groups and varying levels of clinical severity, in a wide range of care environments such as outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient, and residential settings. Proven experience in delivering psychological therapy within primary care settings, (e.g. NHS Talking Therapies/IAPT).
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment, within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.

**Desirable**

- Prior experience of leading psychological services.
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.

### Qualifications & Training

**Essential**

- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical / counselling / eating disorder psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
- Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice (eg neuropsychology/eating disorders) as required for specific clinical post.
- HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist.
- Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees.

**Desirable**

- Membership of the British Psychological Society or Association of Clinical Psychologists (as appropriate to professional training).
- Post-doctoral training in one or more highly specialist areas of psychological practice / therapy.
