### Job overview

We are excited to be able to advertise a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical leadership to the Inpatient Recovery Units based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. This is a post vacated by a retiring Consultant Psychiatrist.

Honeybourne Recovery Unit (10 beds) and Laurel House Recovery Unit (13 beds) are stand-alone facilities located on the St Paul's campus in Cheltenham. The majority of patients will have a psychotic illness as the primary diagnoses and range of stays between 6 to 18 months.

The job will entail acting as the responsible clinician to the patients.

This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are 10 sessions per week  (1 in 20 on-call).

The main duties of the job include the clinical care of patients. Working with the MDT to devise comprehensive clinical management plan for the rehabilitation of the patients within the service.

The role also includes managerial aspects such as supervision of specialty doctor and any trainees.

## Person Specification

### MOTIVATION

**Essential**

- Willingness to accept lead clinician and management responsibilities for parts of the service.

**Desirable**

- Ambitions to take part in the wider activities of the consultant role e.g. management Education, Governance, research.

### WORK EXPERIENCE

**Essential**

- Higher specialist training or extensive UK experience in acute psychiatry.

**Desirable**

- Experience of ‘Recovery’ working at consultant or advance   trainee level.

### OTHER RELEVANT FACTORS

**Essential**

- Commitment to high quality service, full driving licence or able to make own transport

**Desirable**

- To start as soon as possible.

### QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

**Essential**

- Basic Medical Qualification GMC registered. On GMC Specialist Register, or eligible for such inclusion.  Specialist Registrars within 6 months of their CCT date at the time of interview. Approved Clinician/S12 approval or eligibility for approval.

**Desirable**

- MRCPsych.  Training or experience in inpatients, crisis, AOT and/or substance misuse psychiatry.

### PERSONAL SKILLS AND QUALITIES

**Essential**

- Effective leadership Good interpersonal skills Commitment to supervising junior staff.

**Desirable**

- Calm but dynamic Supportive Training in work-based  placed assessments.

### SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
