### Job summary

We are looking for new enthusiastic Consultant Physicians who have a passion to deliver excellent care to patients at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. Effective management of the acute, unselected medical workload is a major priority for the Trust and we are looking to recruit consultants who will help us to deliver high quality care by working within and alongside the existing Acute Medicine team.

The acute, unselected medical take is managed and delivered by Acute Medicine teams, supported by a broad range of other medical consultants. Our current consultant staff includes those working only in acute medicine, and some with other specialty commitments, for example in Endocrinology or Infectious Diseases.

Our department includes a Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) & our short stay / general medicine wards. We provide in-reach to ED for the medical take.

Physicians accredited in Acute Medicine, General (Internal) or dual accredited in another speciality are encouraged and welcomed to apply.

These are 10PA jobs and will be personalised to the successful candidate. Applications are welcome from consultants wishing to work less than full time. Appointees must have necessary qualifications and should either be on the Specialist Register of the GMC or be within 6 months of the CCT at the time of interview. Opportunities for teaching are available in our simulation suite and clinical skills area.
