## Job Content

### Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Consultant Endocrinologist to join our dynamic department following a retirement vacancy. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a state-of-the-art University Hospital alongside 11 substantive Endocrinology and Diabetes Consultants, delivering high-quality inpatient and outpatient Endocrinology and Metabolism services across University Hospital Coventry and St Cross Hospital, Rugby. The successful candidate will also contribute to the General Internal Medicine (GIM) inpatient rota.

This post supports the Trust's wider strategic development and offers a unique opportunity to join the well-established Neuroendocrine Tumour (NET) Service at UHCW NHS Trust, a European Neuroendocrine Tumour Centre of Excellence accredited by the European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society (ENETS). The successful appointee will become part of the specialist NET multidisciplinary team, working closely with colleagues in hepatobiliary surgery, biochemistry, cardiothoracic surgery, respiratory medicine, radiology and nuclear medicine. The service manages over 150 new referrals annually and provides ongoing care for more than 900 patients.

Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining CCT/CESR(CP) at the time of interview.

### Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be supported to undertake continuing professional development (CPD), maintain reflective practice, complete annual appraisal and meet GMC revalidation requirements.

The post holder will provide effective clinical leadership, undertake administrative responsibilities, promote quality improvement, delegate appropriately, demonstrate financial awareness, and comply with Trust policies.

UHCW has a strong commitment to research, particularly within the National Institute for Health Research portfolio. The Endocrinology Department has an active research programme led by Professor Randeva, with access to University of Warwick research facilities. Consultants are encouraged to participate in research in accordance with Good Research Governance and ethical approvals.

The post holder will contribute to clinical governance, audit, risk management and evidence-based practice, participating in regular audit meetings to support continuous service improvement.

Teaching medical students, trainee doctors and multidisciplinary staff is an integral part of the role. New consultants benefit from an established mentoring programme and New Consultant Forum.

A formal job plan will be agreed three months after appointment and reviewed annually. The post holder may be required to work across Trust sites, including occasional evening and weekend sessions, in line with service needs.
