University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire are appointing a Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our well established Paediatric Orthopaedic team consisting of consultant colleagues, resident doctor trainees and advanced care practitioners.

The successful applicant should hold accreditation in FRCS (Tr&Orth) or equivalent, and should be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of obtaining CCT.

Applicants should have established skills in Trauma and Orthopaedics and specific experience in Paediatric Orthopaedic surgery, having undertaken at least one year of Paediatric Orthopaedic fellowship. Excellent communication and team working skills, in addition to a strong commitment to teaching, research and service development are essential.

The successful applicant will be expected to work cohesively with managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of the service and will share with consultant colleagues the medical contribution to management.

### Main duties of the job

Consultant appointments are made to the University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust; as services are developed and changed, the base of posts may alter and any employee of the Trust will be expected, within an agreed clinical strategy, to move his/her sessions as the service requires.

In particular, your attention is drawn to the fact that the post advertised may include routine evening and week-end working as part of the working arrangements for the new hospital the details of which are currently under discussion. The specific scheduling of such activities would be subject to mutual agreement and may be agreed at a later date in the future.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will participate in the consultant-led paediatric trauma service to maintain high quality trauma care with consultant involvement in early operative work and fracture clinic supervision. They will be involved in the comprehensive paediatric elective service.

As well as general paediatric elective work, the successful applicant will be expected to take on a sub-specialist role sharing the management of the developmental dysplasia of the hip and clubfoot service in order to compliment the interests and sub-specialities of the current post holders. Experience within other specific areas of paediatric orthopaedics is desirable but not essential, for example, limb reconstruction, pelvic and hip surgery, or foot & ankle surgery.

### Applicant requirements

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

- Specialist interest in DDH / clubfoot management
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of both emergency and elective paediatric orthopaedic surgery
- Ability to take part in the on-call rota for paediatric orthopaedic trauma
- Fellowship-level paediatric orthopaedic specialist training Ability to offer an elective service which integrates with that of the department
