Applications are invited for a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist with subspecialty expertise in congenital cardiac MRI and CT scanning to join the Paediatric Cardiology Service within Evelina London Women’s & Children’s Clinical Group. This is a full-time post. It is a requirement of your employment that you be prepared to work at any additional or different location owned or served by the Trust, either on an on-going or temporary basis according to the demands of the service.

### Main duties of the job

This post is full time (10 programmed activities) with the option for additional programmed activities available.

This role will immerse the successful applicant fully within the paediatric cardiology team by undertaking cover of the inpatient service, outpatient clinics and support of clinics throughout the wider paediatric congenital heart network. The subspecialty activity is to provide specialist imaging in congenital cardiac MRI and cardiac CT.

The successful candidate will be on call for general paediatric cardiology.

The post-holder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Your hours of work will be as detailed in your job plan and may be varied from time to time in accordance with the Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is a full-time consultant appointment in paediatric cardiology.

The post-holder will be expected to work within the existing team to continue to enhance the paediatric cardiology service and its network. The post-holder will work with colleagues across paediatric cardiology and radiology to provide a comprehensive paediatric cardiac MRI and CT service with a strong emphasis on quality and education and will help developing the service profile within the Clinical group, Trust and Network.

The post-holder will be expected to work closely with existing consultants and the multidisciplinary team to provide a clinical service of excellence for the child with congenital or acquired heart disease. Specifically, this would include contributing to the acute inpatient service provision by participating on the service rota, and supporting outpatient care with a clinic and support of the rapid access service.

The post holder will contribute to provision of network activity by taking over the responsibility for existing clinics within wider CHD network.

The post holder will be expected to actively participate in the research, education, and administrative responsibilities of the paediatric department, as well as generally support the Trust and its Directorate of Children’s services.

## Person Specification

### Clinical Experience

**Essential**

- At least 4 years’ experience working in a paediatric cardiac surgical centre at registrar level or higher.
- Able to demonstrate clinical independence in paediatric cardiac CT
- Ability to undertake independent outpatient clinics.
- Level 3 SCMR/EACVI accreditation in cardiac MRI

**Desirable**

- Peer reviewed publications related to paediatric cardiology in particular in the field of MRI or CT
- Experience in providing an outreach paediatric cardiac service in a district general hospital.

### Audit Management & IT

**Essential**

- Ability to demonstrate a track record of clinical governance, audit and service improvement.

**Desirable**

- Training in health services management

### Professional Qualifications

**Essential**

- GMC Registration and a Licence to Practise
- MRCP or MRCPCH or equivalent
- Has, or is eligible for GMC Specialist Registration in Paediatrics, Cardiology or Paediatric Cardiology

**Desirable**

- Accreditation in Congenital Heart disease Echocardiography
- Higher Degree – either completed or currently enrolled in a higher degree program

### Leadership / Management skills
