An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new consultant post from February 2027 within the Arthroplasty (Lower Limb) Service at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be part of the existing 22 consultants within the Arthroplasty team. We deliver very high volumes of primary, complex, and revision hip and knee surgery to our local area and nationally.

Our consultants have access to great facilities in a busy, patient focused,  rewarding environment.

### Main duties of the job

This post is for a permanent whole time (10 Programmed Activities) Arthroplasty Consultant at the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is a full- time post wholly based at the RJAH with no regular trauma commitment. However, there will be a requirement to manage patients with Periprosthetic Trauma Fractures.

The successful candidate would be expected to participate fully in and contribute to the life of this nationally and internationally renowned specialist orthopaedic hospital by developing and promoting the Arthroplasty service.

Initially the successful candidate would be expected to deliver high quality elective primary hip and knee replacement surgery.

Applicants will be able to demonstrate through their application that they are sufficiently trained lower limb arthroplasty surgery and capable of developing this as their sub-specialty interest.

Interested candidates will be listed on the GMC's Specialist Register for Trauma and Orthopaedics (or be within 6 months of being at the time of interview) and have completed an appropriate post-specialist registration fellowship (minimum 12 month  duration).

### Audit, Research and Teaching

**Essential**

- Understanding of principles of audit and demonstrates recent leadership of audit, process and outcomes.process and outcomes. (including process, outcomes and change in practice)
- Proven teaching skills and commitment to training of junior doctors.
- Understands the principles and applications of clinical research and lists recent research publications and presentation of papers relevant to role

### Qualifications and Registration

**Essential**

- Full GMC Registration with license to practice and with no restrictions on practice and currently practicing clinician
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Trauma and Orthopaedics, via CCT or CESR (CP) - proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview CESR or European Community Rights
- FRCS (T&O) or demonstrable equivalent

**Desirable**

- Higher degree eg MD/PhD

### Experience and specialist knowledge

**Essential**

- All round orthopaedic experience to include significant primary hip and knee experience.
- Twelve-month post-specialist registration fellowship in arthroplasty surgery.
- Sufficient knowledge of knee and hip arthroplasty plus evidence of independent practice in theatres and out-patients for all levels of arthroplasty
