The James Cook University Hospital is seeking to appoint an Obstetric Consultant with an interest in Fetal Medicine to join the friendly, dynamic, and forward-thinking Obstetric team. The post attracts 6 PAs, and the applicant will be expected to provide care at both the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton, and on occasion at the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust sites.

The James Cook University Hospital is a large teaching hospital in Teesside which provides care to women across the Tees Valley on two sites. We are a training centre for advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery in endometriosis. In addition we provide tertiary centre care for Gynaecological Oncology, a regional centre for complex Maternal / Fetal and Neonatal Care, Reproductive Gynaecology, and has BSUG accreditation for Urogynaecology.

The post holder is expected to take part in the on-call rota, and those with a special interest in Fetal Medicine and high-risk pregnancies are encouraged to apply.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of supervising junior medical staff
- Clinical experience equivalent to completion of a formal training program in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

**Desirable**

- Experience in counselling

### Knowledge and Skills

**Essential**

- Evidence of teaching/training junior medical staff and undergraduate students

**Desirable**

- Established teaching interest
- IT skills

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- Full GMC registration
- Evidence of completion of formal training programme in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Membership of RCOG or equivalent
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of interview

**Desirable**

- Qualifications in other specialist skill (Fetal medicine SST or ATSM)
- Educational Supervisor Training
- Training in appraisal techniques
- Management Training
