A candidate with an interest in Paediatric Neurosurgery is sought to contribute to the continued development of the service in Sheffield. The post is available from 27 January 2027. We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers. Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered. ### Main duties of the job The appointee, together with consultant colleagues, will be responsible for the provision of adult neurosurgical services to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and paediatric neurosurgical services to the Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the routine adult neurosurgical workload and the paediatric sub-specialty. The person appointed will take his/her equal share in providing emergency cover and will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence. He/she will have continuing responsibility for patients in his/her care and the proper functioning of the department.
