### Job overview

As a consultant neurophysiologist you will be member of a team which provides the reporting of adult EEGs, of children and neonates with a range of complex diseases and advise on clinical assessments and diagnostic strategies.

### Main duties of the job

Your duties will include:

- To report EEGs conducted on paediatric or neonatal adult patients as per timetable.
- Supervise physiologists, SpRs and fellows in their performance and reporting EEGs.
- To be available during normal office hours of the day of duty for consultations with referring physicians relating to inpatients in the hospital and to facilitate inpatient consultations on request.
- To advise on study protocols

### Communication

**Essential**

- - Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of specialist service.
- - Ability to organise and manage specialist service including outpatient referrals,
- - communication; ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade/ negotiate.
- - Interpersonal Skills: ability to see patients as people, ability to empathise and work co-operatively with others.
- - Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- - Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, nurses, GP’s and other agencies

### Clinical Experience

**Essential**

- - Wide experience in clinical neurophysiology related to EEG
- - Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and understanding of the different roles.

### Skills and Abilities

**Essential**

- - Experience in managing clinic workflow of reporting EEG studies
- - Management of associated comorbidities

### Knowledge and Qualifications

**Essential**

- - MRCP, FRCPCH or equivalent
- - CCT in Clinical Neurophysiology or Neurology or equivalent).
- - Eligible for Full UK GMC Registration or equivalent on GMC Specialist register in relevant Specialty within 6 months of expected date of CCT.
- - NB: Non- UK trained doctors must be on the GMC register and Specialist register in relevant Specialty by the date of the appointment.
- - PhD or equivalent High-profile publications as first, lead or senior author
- - understanding of current changes in the management and organisational structures of the NHS
- - knowledge of Clinical Governance framework of NHS

### Personal and People Development

**Essential**

- Knowledge of principles of clinical governance and staff appraisal
- A demonstrable interest in research as evidenced by research grants and publication
- Experience and interest in teaching Supervising doctors in training.
