An opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Microbiology in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The post-holder is expected to contribute to the broad range of laboratory and clinical roles within the department including laboratory oversight, report authorisation, diagnostic and antimicrobial advice and stewardship and ward consultation, in addition to teaching and training responsibilities.

Applicants should have full and specialist registration with GMC with a licence to practice, FRCPath (or equivalent), and hold a CCT(or equivalent) in Microbiology or a joint CCT(or equivalent) in Microbiology and Infectious diseases, or be within 6 months of the registration / CCT at the time of interview.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Broad microbiology experience of managing wide range of infections and managing infection control incidents
- Understanding of managerial and accreditation issues relating to laboratory medicine
- Understanding of clinical governance responsibilities
- Knowledge of and participation in clinical audit

### Qualifications and Registration

- Full GMC registration
- MB ChB (or equivalent)
- FRCPath (or equivalent)
- GMC Specialist Register in Medical Microbiology/Virology (or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at time of interview). Applicants with CESR must have CESR at the time of the interview.

**Desirable**

- MRCP (UK) (or equivalent)
- Diploma or MSc in Hospital Infection Control
- Infectious Disease experience and/or on GMC Specialist Register in Infectious Diseases (or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at time of interview). Applicants with CESR must have CESR at the time of the interview
- MSc, MD or PhD
