### Job overview

This is an appointment is for a substantive Consultant in Interventional Cardiology within the Heart, Lung & Critical Care (HLCC) Clinical Group of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. The HLCC Group is one of the largest providers of cardiovascular care in Europe. The appointee will contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of the interventional service at the Royal Brompton Hospital (RBH).

### Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will join the established coronary intervention teams across the Trust to contribute to the coronary revascularisation programme. Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust now boasts one of the largest coronary revascularisation programmes in Europe, undertaking approximately 3000 PCI cases annually across three sites. The programme is rapidly developing with a specific emphasis on collaborative cross-site working and standardisation of care pathways. The post-holder will be expected to help further develop these pathways at the Brompton site to increase capacity and quality of care, with an emphasis on reanimating the CHIP (complex and high risk indicated procedure) programme that includes chronic total occlusions. The successful applicant will also be part of a busy cardiogenic shock programme and is expected to be involved in implantation of mechanical circulatory support devices and be part of the interventional on-call rota at the Brompton site. In addition to being on the on-call rota for revascularisation at RBH, the successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the PPCI rota at either HH or STH, will participate in the consultant of the week rota at RBH for intervention / SHD.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post will involve 4 interventional lab sessions at RBH with opportunities for cross cover across sites. Although not essential, structural skillsets would be desirable given the ever-growing TAVI programmes. The successful candidate would be expected to undertake weekly interventional and outpatient clinics and play a central role in the revascularisation MDT. Successful candidate will be encouraged to develop and improve upon the established programmes and to take on clinical leadership roles where appropriate. An active research interest and background is encouraged. A proactive role in education is essential.

### Clinical Experience

**Essential**

- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in relevant speciality.
- Specialist training in Complex and High Risk Indicatred Procedures.
- Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision.

**Desirable**

- Subspecialist interest in Chronic Total Occlusions
- Exposure to structural interventions (TAVI, Mechanical Circulatory support)

### Professional Qualifications

**Essential**

- Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
- Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
- Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
- MRCP or show evidence of equivalent qualification
- Evidence of continuous professional development

**Desirable**

- FRCP or show evidence of equivalent qualification
