The post will have an emergency ‘on call’ commitment on a 1 in 12. This post holders will join the team of Consultants, Specialty and Registrar Doctors responsible for the provision of Trauma and Orthopaedic services to Cwm Taf Morgannwg, University Health Board. The post may also be required to undertake sessions across other sites within the organisation. Interview date 21st October 2026. ### Main duties of the job The post will be required to share the responsibility of providing Trauma and Orthopaedic outpatient and inpatient care for the local population and in doing so foster excellent working relationships within and outside the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department. This post will join the team of consultants responsible for the provision of Trauma and Orthopaedic services to the University Health Board in Cwm Taf Morgannwg. The consultant will be required to undertake sessions across other sites within the organisation. The post holder will be appointed on an equal footing with current colleagues. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities Management of general trauma & with another sub specialty patients across sites within CTMUHB. Provide professional and managerial supervision of junior medical staff. Have continuing responsibility for the care of patients under his/her care: allowing for proper delegation to, and training of staff; ensuring that concise, agreed management plans are clearly displayed in the notes of patients with complex conditions. Wards rounds are conducted to identify and assess problems and plan management of care; and be actively available during the working week so that medical and nursing staff can communicate and consult freely. Ensure that an appropriate model of care is adopted which recognises the involvement of the multi-disciplinary team, the patient and family. Ensure that the use of medical and nursing resources within the department are utilised to their maximum potential. ### Applicant requirements You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
