We are an accredited Hyperacute stroke research centre and an interest in research would be supported ### Main duties of the job We are looking for applicants for new posts within the Neurosciences Department at the Leeds General Infirmary. Applicants should have established skills in Stroke Medicine and its related specialties. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable. We reserve the right to close this advert early if we receive a high number of suitable applications. ## Person Specification ### AUDIT **Essential** - Experience of participation in regular clinical audit. ### RESEARCH **Essential** - Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research. **Desirable** - Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff. ### TEACHING **Essential** - Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors. **Desirable** - Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops. ### TRAINING **Essential** - Should have completed a recognised training programme in Geriatric Medicine and Stroke Medicine, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience. ### MANAGEMENT **Essential** - Understanding of current issues in the NHS. **Desirable** - Attendance at recognised management course. ### ELIGIBILITY **Essential** - Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice. - Eligibility to work in the UK. ### QUALIFICATIONS **Essential** - MB BS or equivalent qualification. **Desirable** - Relevant higher degree. ### LANGUAGE SKILLS **Essential** - All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by one of the following: passing a Secure English Language Test (SELT) from an approved provider; having a GCSE, A level, Scottish National Qualification level 4 or 5, Scottish Higher or Advanced Higher in English, gained through study at a UK school that you began when you were under 18; having a degree-level academic qualification that was taught in English - if you studied abroad, you’ll need to apply through Ecctis (formerly UK NARIC) for confirmation that your qualification is equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD. - You do not need to prove your knowledge of English if you’ve already passed an English Language assessment that is accepted by the relevant regulated professional body. ### OTHER REQUIREMENTS **Essential** - Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview).
