### Job overview

This is an excellent opportunity within our Rheumatology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The successful applicant will undertake 5 rheumatology clinics per week which will include General Rheumatology, Early Arthritis and GCA/ vasculitis clinics. The successful applicant will see rheumatology ward referrals, provide advice and guidance to primary care and support queries arising from the broader rheumatology team which include Specialist Nurses and other Allied Health Professionals.

This is an excellent opportunity within the Rheumatology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, based at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, which enjoys a unique geographical location close to London and Cambridge. The Trust also enjoys a reputation for our commitment to the highest standards of care and for our friendly and supportive approach.

It is essential that the candidate applying for this post has broad experience in common Rheumatological disorders including inflammatory arthritis, soft tissue disorders and connective tissue diseases and that they are competent in the management of biological therapies. We would wish to encourage applicants with sub-specialty and clinical research interests to apply for this position.

The Trust has a comprehensive programme of leadership mentoring available for newly qualified Consultants. Opportunities are also available to other Consultant appointees to play an active part in the programme.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
- Evidence engagement with appraisal and revalidation

### Previous Experience

**Essential**

- Broad range of experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics
- Proficient in management and treatment of complex peri-prosthetic trauma
- Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
- Evidence of leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
- Published papers and original work in peer reviewed journals
- Demonstrable experience and active participation in research and development

**Desirable**

- Experience of Orthopaedic Trauma in a UK Major Trauma Centre
- Previous Consultant level experience in NHS

### Qualifications / Training

**Essential**

- Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
- FRCS Tr&Orth or qualification of an equivalent level
- Higher Trauma and Orthopaedic (or equivalent) training

**Desirable**

- Postgraduate degree (or equivalent) related to Orthopaedics (eg Masters / MD / MRes / PhD etc)
- Fellowship training in Knee Arthroplasty Surgery
- Trauma Fellowship
