Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Applications are welcome for the above permanent full-time position (40 hours per week medical or 36 hours per week AfC) based at Waverley Court.

We are looking for a dynamic Consultant in Public Health Medicine/Consultant in Public Health to provide expert leadership for Healthcare Public Health, working collaboratively with partners in the health and care system to maximise the population benefits of healthcare. This may include translating the evidence-base to inform service design and planning, consideration of equity of access and identifying effective preventative interventions, as well as supporting our screening and immunisation functions. This post is situated within the Healthcare Public Health Division and reports to the Lead Consultant for Healthcare Public Health.

This is an ideal opportunity for candidates with strong strategic leadership skills to work with partners across the health and care system to embed preventative approaches, reduce health inequalities and promote sustainable healthcare.

Candidates must be included in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List or included in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists at the point of application. Public health specialty registrar applicants who are not yet on the GMC Specialist Register, GDC Specialist List in dental public health or UKPHR must provide verifiable signed documentary evidence that they are within 6 months of gaining entry to a register at the date of interview.

You may be required to work at any of NHS Lothian’s sites. This post is suitable for hybrid working, however a minimum of 2 days per week will be required in the office.
