This is an exciting opportunity to join Compton Care as a substantive 3-day Consultant in Palliative Medicine. This new post has been created to support the continued growth and development of our innovative community and integrated specialist palliative care services, enabling patients with complex needs to receive outstanding care in the place they call home.

The successful candidate will work alongside consultant colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across community, outpatient, virtual ward, hospice inpatient and Living Well Centre services. They will contribute to service innovation, workforce development and the ongoing transformation of palliative and end of life care across Wolverhampton and the surrounding area.

Compton Care delivers a comprehensive range of consultant-led services including community specialist palliative care, rapid response, virtual ward, care home support, outpatient clinics, Living Well services and inpatient care. This breadth of practice offers a unique opportunity to support patients and families throughout their palliative care journey.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative and forward-thinking consultant who shares our commitment to delivering outstanding palliative and end of life care and who wishes to help shape the future of specialist services for our local population.

### Main duties of the job

T

The postholder will provide senior medical leadership and clinical support to the Community Specialist Palliative Care Team, support activity within the Inpatient Unit and Living Well Centre as required, and participate in the specialist palliative medicine on-call rota. They will provide expert assessment, advice and support to patients, families and healthcare professionals, while contributing to service development, quality improvement, clinical governance, audit and research.

Community responsibilities include participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, home visits, outpatient assessments and clinical reviews, support to the Compton Virtual Ward, attendance at Gold Standards Framework meetings, and provision of specialist advice and education to healthcare professionals.

The role offers opportunities to contribute to wider system development through collaboration with local partners, Integrated Neighbourhood Teams and specialist palliative care networks. The postholder will also support the supervision and development of resident doctors, trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners and non-medical prescribers.
