### Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Consultant with a special interest in Feto-Maternal Medicine to join our team within the Maternity and Gynaecology Care Unit, at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, providing services for patients across North Derbyshire and the surrounding area. This is an expansion post to support the continued delivery of the personalised high-quality care our women expect close to home.

The role will suit someone with the relevant experience to help us deliver antenatal care for women with pre-existing medical conditions, and for pregnancies which are high risk due to fetal reasons, with the ability to work as an effective team member, providing clinical leadership and advice on the efficient and smooth running of our services.

You will be expected to work flexibly and cover both Maternity and Gynaecology including provision of assessment, care and treatment of emergency patients presenting to the department.

We would like the appointee to have a special interest in any of the following: feto-maternal medicine, high-risk obstetrics, pregnancy care or experience, advanced antenatal care for high-risk pregnancies (as previously ATSM).

SITM in pregnancy care, fetal care or relevant Contingent SITMs or accreditation to an equivalent advanced skills module or advanced obstetric scanning would support the skill set for the role.

Additional accreditations are also desirable. We can support in developing skills in scanning to complement their special interests.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Basic IT skills
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, nurses, and other staff groups. Caring attitude towards the patient.
- Maintain effective communication with the referral centres and the relevant clinical networks

**Desirable**

- Ability to undertake training/mentoring of clinical staff and enthusiasm for education.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Wide experience in proven leadership and teaching experience
- Wide range of experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology
- Sound knowledge of NHS and Local Authority structures and systems.
- Quality/audit project experience.
- Experience of participation in CPD.
- Understanding of Clinical Governance
- Understanding of Divisional activities and administration.
- Understanding of Divisional management.

**Desirable**

- Experience of clinical leadership
- Management training/experience
- Awareness of the impact of PCT requirements on service provision
- Knowledge of research processes
- Previous experience of using online patient record system e.g., K2.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
- SITM in pregnancy care or accreditation to an equivalent advanced training antenatal care module
- Full registration with GMC Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or training to a level commensurate with the award of CCST/HPT or eligibility for entry on the specialist register of the GMC within 6 months of advisory appointments committee
- Relevant CCT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)

**Desirable**

- Further Higher Degree/ Qualification
- Other ATSMs or SITMs to support special interests
