This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery and development of high-quality, patient-centred services within a busy and vibrant department. The successful candidate will play a key role in the continued expansion and innovation of our Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) and ambulatory gynaecology services, while contributing to the wider obstetrics and gynaecology consultant team.

### Main duties of the job

About the Role

The successful applicant will:

- Develop the Early Pregnancy service, including the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit.
- Deliver specialist outpatient and ultrasound services for women experiencing complications of early pregnancy.
- Participate fully in the consultant on-call rota for obstetrics and gynaecology.
- Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, teaching and service development.
- Support multidisciplinary working across women's services

We are looking for a consultant who is:

- On the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of CCT at the time of interview.
- Demonstrate expertise in the management of early pregnancy complications
- Have experience in early pregnancy ultrasound and outpatient management pathways.
- Show a commitment to excellence in patient care, education, research and service improvement.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

General obstetrics and gynaecology, coordination of labour ward activities in collaboration with midwifery leaders and related clinical governance issues. You will participate in 1:21 on call rota covering obstetrics. The on-call consultant will be routinely expected to be resident on site until 22.00h, and at any time during their shifts depending on clinical needs.

- Clinical Care

The duties outlined below cover the main duties of the post and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service. The aim is to provide a high quality, accessible consultant-led services;

- - To be integral to providing acute obstetrics services and fetal medicine services. - To take an active role in developing clinical governance initiatives, participate in multidisciplinary audit, clinical effectiveness initiatives and risk management. - To have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in the Patients’ Charter and the local purchasers’ contracts. - To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with General Practitioners, community services, and all healthcare agencies. - To maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary work with the specialties, working closely and regularly with the consultant medical staff. - To provide leadership in teaching and clinical research. - To be up to date in statutory and mandatory training programs. - To maintain ‘Good Medical Practice’ and be in ‘good standing’ with the RCOG.

It is expected that the post-holder will work closely with colleagues from other specialties within the hospital and in primary care.

### Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- CCST/CCT (or equivalent), or within 6 months of a date, or entry on the Specialist Register of the GMC for Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
- ATSM/SITM in Outpatient Hysteroscopy
- ATSM/SITM in Complex early pregnancy and non-elective gynaecology (CEPNG) or equivalent. Competent in Early Pregnancy Scanning.

**Desirable**

- Diploma in Early Pregnancy Ultrasound.
- Leadership and Teaching qualifications
