### Job overview

A vacancy has arisen for a new consultant post in Neuropsychiatry. The post holder will provide the highest quality of assessment and treatment of a variety of neuropsychiatric disorders and provide a focus for service in Huntington’s disease and sleep disorders patients from age 18 onwards.

Assessment of patients and provision of specialist advice for Video Telemetry Unit (Vetiver Suite) will be involved alongside assessment, diagnosis and individualised treatment planning through appropriate care pathways for people who have a range of neuropsychiatric disorders including Huntington’s disease and sleep disorders.

The new post holder will need to work closely with existing Consultants with special interests in these conditions to develop the service further. The post is supported by extensive MDT provision including a clinical nurse specialists, occupational therapists, physiotherapist and gold standard investigative services. The post holder will also provide clinical leadership to the multi-disciplinary teams.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

## Person Specification

### Scoring

**Essential**

- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983)
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Obtained inclusion on the Specialist Register; or within six months of the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Adult Psychiatry; or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register
- Commitment to personal programme of Continuing Professional Development
- Experience in neuropsychiatry
- Substantial experience of psychiatry, including working with people suffering from severe mental illness, preferably in a community setting
- Experience of providing psychological and/or social interventions
- Experience of teaching and training at an undergraduate/postgraduate level
- Commitment to clinical audit within multi-disciplinary team.
- Evidence of potential for effective leadership.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work creatively within multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrable interest in the provision of gender sensitive mental health service
- Willingness to be involved in management of service
- Able to participate in Video Telemetry on-call rota.
- Able to travel

**Desirable**

- Additional qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or another relevant field
- Broad clinical training including both inpatient and community service
- Experience serving a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic population.
- Experience of stakeholder engagement in service delivery
- Completed clinically relevant audit projects
