The Trust has close clinical and academic ties with local medical schools, and will be actively involved in the new Kent medical school. Successful applicants will be able to participate in teaching both under and postgraduate students associated with these Universities. Applicants should have full GMC registration and License to Practice, and be on the Specialist Register or within six months of receiving CCT at the time of interview. An Enhanced DBS (Adults and Children) check is required for this post. Doctors considering an application are encouraged to visit the hospital and to meet with potential clinical colleagues. The Chief Executive and/or Medical Director would also be happy to meet with doctors interested in this role, commitments allowing. Please note that the attached Job Description is still awaiting Royal College approval and is subject to amendments. ### Main duties of the job The Trusts’ critical care units are consistently amongst the best performing in the UK with excellent  ICNARC outcomes and a fantastic reputation for evidenced–based practice and education and training.  The Intensive Care team is a multidisciplinary consultant body comprising of consultants in critical care and other specialties, with great relationships with other directorates within the trust. The critical care team is extensively involved in portfolio research, education and teaching and training. There is a 24/7 Critical Care outreach service which includes Intensive, and a long term vascular access service both with consultant sessions and in addition both units have follow up clinics. The new appointee will join a team of 15 Critical Care Consultants in total, who are responsible for the Trusts’ two critical care units.
