The post has a specific focus on acute leukaemia and teenage/young adult (TYA) patients. This post is to commence 13 October 2026. It is expected that the successful applicant will provide haematology leadership to the TYA service. The post holder will also take part in the haemato-oncology on call out of hours rota and the inpatient attending service. ### Main duties of the job We are seeking an enthusiastic full-time Consultant in Haematology with expertise in acute leukaemia and caring for TYA patients. The successful candidate will work with established sub-speciality teams in leukaemia, stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies.  There will be flexibility within the job plan depending upon experience and interests. The appointee will lead and develop care for TYA patients with haematological malignancies in CUH and across the region. Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.  Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities Inpatient work: will occur as part of a malignant attending rota and will incorporate managing teenage and young adult patients and patients undergoing stem cell transplants and other cellular therapies.  There is a consultant on call rota for malignant haematology only, currently 1:8. Outpatient work: will include two weekly multidisciplinary meetings and 3 clinics covering leukaemia, teenage young adult patients and pre/post stem cell transplant/cellular therapy care. Working in Cambridge Strong links exist between the clinical service and the academic department within the University of Cambridge.  There are numerous teaching and research opportunities throughout the department including an active clinical trials portfolio. The post will currently be based full time in Addenbrooke’s which is at the heart of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the largest centre for biomedical research in Europe.  CUH has been an NHS commissioned CAR-T centre since 2020, and there is an active cellular therapy trials portfolio.  There is the potential for honorary university appointments dependent upon contributions to teaching and research. Funding has been agreed to build the separate Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital, which will include haematology, with a projected completion date in 2032.
