### Job overview

This is a Consultant Haematologist post within the Department of Clinical Haematology at Manchester Royal Infirmary, joining a well-established and cohesive team within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be a key member of the Myeloma and Stem Cell Transplantation service, providing specialist care for patients with myeloma, amyloidosis and other plasma cell disorders. The successful candidate will also participate in the Haemato-Oncology Consultant on-call rota.This is an 8 PA post.

Any Consultant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on an individual basis with the Trust.

Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration - MFT cannot support GMC

### Main duties of the job

Key Duties and Responsibilities.

- The appointee will work within the Myeloma and Plasma Cell Disorders Service, including the management of patients with myeloma, amyloidosis and related disorders. They will also participate in clinical research and clinical trials within this area.
- The appointee will participate in the stem cell transplantation programme alongside Consultant colleagues and contribute to the ongoing development of transplant services.
- The appointee will participate in the ward attending rota with Consultant Haemato-Oncology colleagues.
- The appointee will undertake laboratory duties in line with their clinical interests and service requirements.
- The appointee will be expected to undertake both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within and outside the Trust.
- The appointee will participate in the administrative, governance and management activities of the department alongside Consultant colleagues.
- The Consultant will contribute to cross-cover arrangements for annual leave, study leave and short-term sickness absence on a rotational basis

### Qualifications & Training

- MB.ChB or equivalent
- Higher qualification (FRCPath or equivalent)
- Completion of core medical training (MRCP(UK) or equivalent)
- Completion of PMETB-approved JRCPTB curriculum in haematology with CCST or equivalent (CESR) or within 6 months of obtaining CCST in Haematology and have passed FRCPath part 2 exam
- Specialist Registration with the General Medical Council and Licensed to Practice

**Desirable**

- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent (e.g. MD or PhD)

### Academic Achievements/Research

**Essential**

- Publications in recognised Medical and Haematology journals
- Specialist interest in Myeloma and Plasma cell disorders

**Desirable**

- Research projects relating to the specialist area

- Ability to organise and manage a busy clinical practice
