### Job overview

We are looking for a Gynaecology Consultant with an interest in endometriosis care to join our team of Consultants in Women’s Health at Southmead Hospital, Bristol NHS  Foundation Trust, Bristol.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team when we are developing and expanding services offering high quality care to our women in all parts of our service.

As a hub for regional endometriosis care, experience in this field is mandatory. This includes outpatient clinics, laparoscopic and robotic operating, post operative care and emergency care.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will hold CCT in Gynaecology or be within 6 months of this. They may have additional experience in other specialist areas to meet the needs of the department.

CESR applicants are welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview.

The postholder will be responsible for the clinical management of patients under their care, and, in liaison with consultant colleagues, continuity of care when the post holder is absent. The postholder will be responsible for the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.  The postholder will be required to take part in a Clinical Audit Programme.

**Essential**

- Meets professional health requirements
- Agreement to travel to and work in other Bristol NHS Foundation Trust sites necessitated by the role

### Experience

**Essential**

- Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
- Clinical training and experience in general Obstetrics & Gynaecology equivalent to that required for UK CCT
- ATSM in advanced laparoscopic surgery

**Desirable**

- Evidence of a special interest and expertise in endometriosis

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MRCOG or equivalent
- Maintain Full registration with the GMC.
- CCT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and have been entered on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of commencing the post.
- Experience in Endometriosis care
- Specialist trainees that do not hold a CCT must be due to be awarded one within 6 months of the interview date. CESR applicants are welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview.

**Desirable**

- Higher academic qualification (e.g., MD or MS).

- Evidence of management training and evidence of learning from it
- Ability to organise efficient and smooth running of a specialist service
- Ability to cope with and effectively organise the workload of a consultant
- Ability to practice independently as a consultant

- Evidence of management/leadership experience and/or qualifications and courses

### Clinical Governance and Audit

- Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation

- Evidence of recent and regular engagement with icontinuing professional development (CPD) scheme

- Evidence of recent CME/ reasonable training progression at this stage of career
