## Job Content

### Job overview

Applications are invited for a full-time substantive Consultant post in Emergency General Surgery, with a specialist interest in acute biliary surgery, within the Division of Surgery at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, collaborative and forward-thinking surgical team working across multiple sites, including Weston General Hospital, Bristol Royal Infirmary, and North Bristol Trust. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality emergency and elective surgical care, playing a central role in the continued development and expansion of Emergency General Surgery and acute biliary services across the Trust. The role includes participation in on-call rotas across two sites within a well-supported and evolving cross-site model of care. Candidates should have a strong interest in acute biliary surgery, and should ideally possess, or be keen to develop, advanced skills in the management of acute biliary disease, including index admission (“hot”) cholecystectomy, laparoscopic ultrasound, and laparoscopic bile duct exploration. The Trust offers a supportive environment with an experienced faculty to facilitate the development of these skills where required. This substantive position offers excellent opportunities for professional development, service innovation, and involvement in teaching and research within a large, progressive NHS organisation with strong academic links.
