Position: Consultant in Dermatology An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Consultant in Dermatology within the Dermatology Department at University Hospital Crosshouse. Hours and Shift Pattern: This is a full-time, 10 PA post, recruited on a permanent basis. Part-time applications will be considered. The successful candidate will complement a team of four friendly and welcoming consultants. We are a strong team with diverse specialist skills and experience, supporting each other and our patients as we strive to deliver the highest quality care. This is an exciting time for service development, and you will have the opportunity to help shape and drive future improvements. What you will do: Dermatology is a specialty within the Surgical Services Directorate, which sits within Acute Services. The department provides treatment and care for a population of approximately 388,000. The service is based at University Hospital Crosshouse, Kilmarnock, with some clinics at University Hospital Ayr. Applicants will be expected to work across both sites as required. The successful candidate will work with local managers and professional colleagues to support the efficient running of services. They will share, with Consultant colleagues, responsibility for the medical contribution to management and will have clinical responsibility for patients under their care. The department has busy Day Treatment Units at both Crosshouse and Ayr, providing dressings, TL01, and PUVA. Minor surgery facilities are available in the Dermatology Centre as well as within clinic areas. Specialist dermatology nurses run review clinics primarily for eczema and psoriasis patients, as well as for those receiving isotretinoin and biologic therapies. There are also seven nurse biopsy specialists within the service. You should also hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or provide evidence of higher specialty training leading to CCT, or be within six months of confirmed entry to the Specialist Register at the date of interview. We are seeking an effective team player with a broad range of dermatology experience and a proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
