## Job Content

### Job overview

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a new substantive consultant with a combined interest in Intensive Care and Anaesthesia.

### Main duties of the job

The Critical Care component will also be split across both our sites with a slightly higher proportion of time spent supporting the Critical Care unit in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The on-call component of this will all be in support of the Critical care on call, this is on a 1 in 9 basis.

The daily work pattern will be undertaking a minimum of twice daily ward rounds, the assessment and admission of appropriate patient from all areas of the hospital including ED, AMU, theatres and wards. In addition, the role is expected to support junior residents, ACCP’s and Advance trainees working on the Critical Care units.

You will be encouraged to attend several MDT meetings that include weekly radiology and rehab meetings along with alternate monthly M+M and business meetings.

Almost half of your clinical commitment will be undertaken within anaesthesia, with a mix of elective, urgent and emergency work undertaken across the sites that comprise GHNSHFT. Whilst most of this will be within the theatres complex, some may be in remote areas such as radiology, cardiology or preoperative assessment clinics etc. We currently have intensive care doctors who have additional subspecialist anaesthetic interests such as obstetrics, paediatrics or inpatient pain, and are able to accommodate nearly all subspecialty interests following discussion with the specialty director.
