With the inclusion of North Manchester General Hospital from 1st April 2021, our organisation provides a single hospital service across the City of Manchester. THE POST We are seeking to appoint a committed Consultant Histopathologist to join our experienced and highly motivated team at the Adult Histopathology department in Oxford Road campus, although there may be a requirement to work across our other sites. It is intended that this post will join the Skin pathology reporting team. Contribution to other subspeciality will be discussed with the successful appointee based on expertise and service requirements. About the specialty: The Skin Pathology team currently comprises 5 pathologists (mixture of full time and part-time) and covers the wide range of neoplastic and non-neoplastic dermatopathology specimens. Experience in Immunofluorescence and reporting inflammatory skin biopsies is very desirable. Further training can be provided for candidates willing to develop expertise in any of these complex areas in dermatopathology. ### Main duties of the job The appointee is expected to - Report full range of Skin pathology is desirable including inflammatory skins and immunofluorescence - Proficient with molecular and genomic diagnostics related to the specialty - Offer a specialist review service of external cases for patients referred to the service for treatment and/or MDT discussion - Attend, review and present cases at the MDTs - Work collaboratively as part of a subspecialist team, with a focus on high quality, peer review and patient safety - Be engaged in audit and service improvement projects, and participate in the corresponding Pathology EQA - Take an active role in teaching and training of resident doctors ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities To find out more about the key responsibilities and the specific skills and experience you’ll need, take a look at the Job Description & Person Specification attachments under the ‘Supporting Documents’ heading. Most importantly, it also contains critical information you’ll need to be aware of before you submit an application form. ## Person Specification ### Teaching and Audit **Essential** - Experience of Audit in Cellular pathology - Teaching of junior medical staff - Trained Clinical Supervisor **Desirable** - Teaching of medical students - Experience of supervision of ST1 level trainees including workplace-based assessment and MSF - Trained Educational Supervisor ### Qualifications and Training **Essential** - MB ChB or Equivalent - FRCPath or Equivalent - Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview) - Applicants who are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
