## Job Content

### Job overview

GI Medicine at MFT is undergoing one of the most significant periods of investment and transformation in its history, backed by sustained funding, we are expanding our services with a substantial increase in substantive clinical, nursing, allied health and administrative roles. This investment is focused on building a stable, future-proof workforce, reducing reliance on insourcing, and creating roles that are properly supported, well-resourced and designed for the long term.

As part of  this investment, we are looking to recruit enthusiastic doctors to lead and transform how GI care is delivered at North Manchester General Hospital  and at Manchester Royal Infirmary. New service models are being implemented across the Trust, including enhanced triage with Advice & Guidance and Straight-to-Test pathways,  and innovative diagnostic approaches. These changes are already improving patient flow, reducing waiting times and supporting safer, more timely care.

GI Medicine operates as a managed single service MSS across North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH), Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), Wythenshawe Hospital and Trafford General Hospital (TGH). All roles will be expected to work across sites as part of a collaborative, cross-site working ethos that promotes shared learning, consistency of care and flexibility within job planning.  There will also be an expectation of some evening and weekend working on a rota basis, particularly to support endoscopy and elective services

### Main duties of the job

The exact duties of the appointees will be subject to discussion, but a proposed programme of weekly sessions is based on a working week of 10 PAs (units of Professional Activity) in accordance with the Terms and Conditions – Consultants (England) 2003. It is expected that PAs will be worked flexibly; flexibility in job planning is of particular importance for this roll because of the need to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
