The service is looking to expand its sub speciality interests in IBD and Liver disease; however, we would welcome interest from candidates with interest in any sub speciality areas of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Successful appointee will join the existing 13 consultants (plus 2 Consultant Endoscopists) in the delivery of high-quality provision of inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Endoscopy, and Clinical Nutrition services to this large Trust, incorporating University Hospital of North Durham, Bishop Auckland Hospital and Darlington Memorial Hospital. The post-holder will participate in the gastroenterology consultant of the week on call, including out of hours GI bleed on call or G(I)M on call. ### Main duties of the job The basic contract is for 10 programmed activities (PAs), with elective outpatient work, endoscopy, and inpatient care. At the present, there will be a 1:5 Gastroenterology ward commitment to cover in patient activity on the gastroenterology ward during which time all elective commitments are cancelled (see timetable).
