The expansion of the department, accelerated by the opening of Community Diagnostic Centers, has provided the capacity to increase our consultant numbers. The role involves integrating into well-established teams but also to develop, with support, new areas of interest. A contribution to the department’s general and on call work is expected. Subspecialty training and/or expertise in Gynaecology, urology and paediatric radiology will be considered. The exact job plan will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate depending on the departmental needs, complexity of case mix and subspecialty interest. A typical 10 PA job plan will include 2 sessions of SPA. The job plan will cover all aspects of a consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities, including a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external. The post is based at both James Cook University Hospital and Friarage Hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to take part in the acute and elective diagnostic radiology workload for the local population.
