Applications are invited for the post of Named Dr Safeguarding, Consultant Community Paediatrician based at the Crystal Development Centre, Malling Close Addiscombe. This is a full-time post, attracting 10 programmed activities, and the successful applicant will as the Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children, provide professional leadership and strategic oversight for safeguarding children across Community Paediatric Services, ensuring that safeguarding responsibilities are effectively embedded within clinical practice and service delivery. The postholder is responsible for leading all safeguarding activities within the community service, providing expert advice, supervision and support to healthcare professionals, and promoting high standards of safeguarding practice in line with national guidance and local procedures. The role works in close partnership with the Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children in Acute Paediatrics to ensure a cohesive, consistent and integrated approach to safeguarding across the health economy.

The postholder will establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with statutory and partner agencies, contributing to multi-agency safeguarding arrangements, strategy discussions, case reviews and safeguarding partnerships, and will provide visible leadership to strengthen interagency working and improve outcomes for children and young people.

### Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- At least 2 years General Professional Training in paediatrics
- 3 years Higher Specialist Training, including 2 years in Community Paediatrics, or is able to demonstrate having achieved the competencies equivalent to the Highest Specialist Paediatric Training
- Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training
- Valid BLS Training

**Desirable**

- Specialist experience / training in particular area of CCH practice.
- Training in objective developmental assessment e.g. Griffith Developmental Scales.
- Training in Autism assessment e.g. DISCO or ADI/ADOS. Undertaken PET courses. Valid APLS and NLS

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MB BS or equivalent Level 3 Child Safeguarding training
- MRCPCH by examination or equivalent.
- Full GMC registration.
- On the GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of CCT at time of scheduled interview.
- CCT/CCST or equivalent accreditation in Community Paediatrics or equivalent training and experience.
- Note: Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) applicants must be on the Specialist Register at the point of application.

**Desirable**

- Higher degree (Msc, DCH, DCCH, MBA, MD, PhD or equivalent .MSc in relevant area e.g. CCH / Neuro-disability).
- Post-graduate qualification in Paediatric Neurodisability.
