- The shift pattern for this post is full time with OOH

Applications are sought from suitably trained individuals who are able to provide an elective breast service at Consultant level. This is a new full-time (10PA) post.

This post will have sessions covering the North Sector Breast service. There is no Commitment to elective or emergency general surgery or out of hours on call.

There are currently 2 WTE consultants within the North Sector Breast service and this is an additional post.

The service treats on average 300 new breast cancers per annum diagnosed through both the West of Scotland Breast Screening Service and the Breast symptomatic service. Around 4000 new outpatient referrals are seen each year.

The service provides a full range of breast reconstruction techniques with free flaps performed at the regional Plastic Surgery department in Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

In addition to providing clinical services the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the training and assessment of junior staff and to undertake the administrative duties required in a Consultant job. This will include, but not be exclusive to, the maintenance of appropriate patient records, keeping and participating in personal and unit audit and the retention of documentation for appraisal. All consultants are required to have an annual appraisal.

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application, but your answers must be your own.

- Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
- Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
- Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you, not an AI tool.
