We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Breast Radiographer to join our Radiology team, supporting the delivery of both Breast Screening and Symptomatic Breast Services for the local population.

This is a senior clinical and leadership role within the Breast Imaging Unit, providing expert practice in image interpretation, diagnostic decision-making, and interventional procedures, operating at consultant level with autonomy comparable to a Consultant Radiologist.

The post holder will play a pivotal role in driving service development, clinical governance, research, education, and innovation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred, and cost-effective breast imaging services.

### Main duties of the job

The Consultant Breast Radiographer will:

- Provide expert, autonomous practice in mammography reporting, ultrasound, and image-guided breast interventions
- Act as a Responsible Assessor within the NHS Breast Screening Programme
- Lead and participate in MDT decision-making at a consultant level
- Deliver highly complex diagnostic and interventional breast imaging services independently
- Contribute to service development, innovation, and strategic planning within breast imaging
- Provide clinical leadership across screening and symptomatic breast pathways
- Lead quality assurance, audit, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to teaching, training, and development of the multidisciplinary team
- Engage in research activity and support translation of evidence into clinical practice
- Ensure compliance with IR(ME)R 2017, radiation safety, and governance standards

**Essential**

- Significant experience as a Band 7 Advanced Practitioner
- Extensive experience in Mammography interpretation and Screen Reading
- Extensive experience in Breast Ultrasound
- Extensive experience in ultrasound and stereotactic guided procedures

**Desirable**

- Significant experience of working independently in Assessment (as Responsible Assessor) and Symptomatic Clinics
- Experience of facilitating MDT’s
